WORKING FOR HUMANITY

ABOUT US

Small Actions Lead To Big changes

ARCA BETA ORGANIZATION

Our experience shows that a successful project needs a good level of collaboration between three elements: Social impact, Environmental protection and Governmental support. Besides that, an international project also needs a good understanding of cultural aspects and respectful policy for people who work or are involved in the actions of the organization.

Our Story

At the beginning of the pandemic I, Miguel Peña, saw different social problems that were exposed widely during this time. These problems varied from low levels of education, increased poverty, inequality, to a lack of environmental awareness among various populations.  Then I started to communicate with people through the internet, some of them were new and some were actually friends that I met on my previous volunteer trips. From these connections, I managed to organize online events to brainstorm and find possible solutions for social and environmental problems.

We started this initiative at the beginning of 2021, when everything was still uncertain. The most vulnerable communities were alone at this time, so we decided to organize and take action with volunteers around the world! Now, in 2022, Arca Beta is officially an NGO that is based in Lima, Peru. Our founders and international contributors share the same values and principles. We are able to come together and work as a team to achieve our common goals and make an impact.

My name is Reetta, I’m a teacher from Finland. I am someone who likes to be part of educational projects and gets inspired from different cultures and global learning. I am especially interested in areas such as nature and the wellbeing of others. During the pandemic I was talking to Miguel about our global issues, and we decided to do something about it. After several online meetings, I was happy to be a part of his educational projects. I support this new organization, because it has values that are very close to my heart: such as the wellbeing of the children, global cooperation and protecting the environment.

I consider myself a lucky person because I had a vast and interesting professional experience in different areas, from working in logistics on how to start a project all the way to marketing management. Even in my great line of work, I felt something important was still missing: I wanted to use those skills to serve more people and the environment. When I found out that my friend Miguel was gathering a team, I joined right away. I’m grateful to our teammates, for your kind hearts and honesty. We have a great future ahead!

I have always been passionate about making a difference in this world! My volunteer journey began in 2002 as a young Girl Scout member, and since then my love for helping others has grown immensely. I have been involved with several organizations throughout my life, which currently, I am the Marketing Director for a nonprofit community center in NYC. I have carried a personal dream for many years of starting my own organization in Peru as well, which is where my mother is from, and I’d like to work on education and sustainability practices. That being said, it is no wonder that when I met Miguel and was introduced to his amazing team, I felt right at home. We all have similar passions, goals and a deep love for people and their cultures.
